Hamburger Steak with Gravy – Don’t LOSE This Recipe!

Ingredients (Serves 4)

For the Patties:

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 egg
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper

For the Gravy:

  • 2 tbsp butter or oil
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce (optional)
  • Salt & pepper to taste

  1. Make the patties
    • In a bowl, mix ground beef, onion, egg, breadcrumbs, salt, and pepper.
    • Shape into 4 patties.
  2. Cook the patties
    • Heat a skillet over medium heat with a little oil.
    • Cook patties 4–5 minutes per side until browned and cooked through. Remove and keep warm.
  3. Make the gravy
    • In the same skillet, melt butter. Stir in flour and cook 1–2 minutes until lightly browned.
    • Gradually whisk in beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, if using.
    • Simmer 3–5 minutes until thickened. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Combine
    • Return patties to skillet, spoon gravy over them, and simmer 2–3 minutes to soak flavors.
  5. Serve
    • Over mashed potatoes, rice, or egg noodles. Enjoy immediately!
